How we handle your information.
Your quiz answers, your plan, your addresses and your payments. What we keep, why we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
01What this policy covers
This policy explains what information ChopTime collects when you use our mobile app or this website, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to everything we operate under the name ChopTime, including the taste quiz, meal plans, the recipe library, the shop and delivery.
It does not apply to other companies whose services you might reach from ours, such as a payment provider processing your transaction. Those organisations handle your information under their own policies.
02Information you give us
Most of what we hold is information you typed in yourself. That includes:
- Your answers to the taste quiz, such as the dishes you like and how long you have to cook.
- Your household details, such as how many people you cook for and any dietary needs you set.
- Account details if you create an account, which means your name, your email address or phone number, and a password or a sign in through Google or Apple.
- Delivery addresses and delivery notes for orders in Accra.
- Anything you write to us, including messages to support and recipe reviews.
You can use the taste quiz and get a plan without creating an account at all. If you do that, the plan is held against an anonymous session on your device rather than against your name.
03Information we collect as you use ChopTime
We record how the product is used so we can make it work better. That means the meals you open, the meals you swap out, the recipes you save, what you add to a basket and which screens are slow or crash.
We also collect basic technical information your device sends: the type of device, the operating system version, the app version, general location at city level, and a device identifier. We do not collect your precise location, and we do not read your contacts, photos or messages.
04Your taste profile and your plan
Your taste profile is the heart of the product, so it is worth being plain about it. Every quiz answer, every swap and every meal you cook feeds a profile that decides what your next plan looks like. That is the whole reason the plan you get in month three is better than the one you got on day one.
The profile is used to generate your plans and to improve how plans are generated in general. When we use it for the second purpose we work with information that has been aggregated, so what comes out describes patterns across many households rather than yours.
You can reset your taste profile at any time from your account settings, which clears the learned preferences and starts the quiz again.
05Payments
When you pay for an order we pass the amount, a reference and the contact details needed to complete the payment to our payment provider. Payments are handled by Paystack, which supports Mobile Money and cards in Ghana.
We never see or store your full card number, your card security code or your Mobile Money PIN. What we keep is a record of the transaction: what was ordered, whether the payment succeeded, and the reference we can use if something needs fixing.
06Delivery information
To bring an order to you we need somewhere to bring it. Your delivery address, your phone number and any note you leave for the rider are shared with the people fulfilling and delivering that order, and only for that order.
Riders and fulfilment staff see what they need to complete the delivery. They do not see your meal plans, your taste profile or your order history.
07Who we share information with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with organisations that help us run ChopTime, and only with what they need:
- Our payment provider, to take payment and confirm it.
- Delivery and fulfilment partners, to get an order to your door.
- Cloud hosting and error reporting services, which store and process data on our behalf under contract.
- Authorities, where the law genuinely requires it of us.
08How long we keep information
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information within ninety days, except where we are required to keep records for longer.
Order and payment records are kept for six years, because tax and accounting rules in Ghana require it. Anonymous session data from guest use is cleared after twelve months of inactivity.
09Your choices and your rights
You are in control of the information we hold about you. You can:
- See and edit your account details and dietary settings in the app at any time.
- Reset your taste profile, which clears what ChopTime has learned about your preferences.
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your account and the personal information attached to it.
- Turn off notifications, either in the app or in your device settings.
Write to hello@choptime.app and we will action a request within thirty days. We will not charge you for it and we will not ask you why.
10How we protect information
Information travels between your device and ChopTime over encrypted connections, and is stored encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs, and that access is reviewed.
No system is perfect, so if a breach ever affects your personal information we will tell you and the relevant authority without delay, and we will tell you what we are doing about it.
11Children
ChopTime is built for the person running a household kitchen, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen.
If you believe a child has given us their information, write to hello@choptime.app and we will delete it.
12Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, not after.
13How to contact us
For anything about this policy, or to make a request about your information, reach us at hello@choptime.app, on +233 55 557 6869, or on WhatsApp at the same number.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can raise it with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
